Download & Extract
Download the official ByteShield-BrowserGuard.zip archive and unzip it into a folder on your computer (e.g. into your Documents or Downloads).
Open Extensions Page
In your browser address bar, navigate to:
chrome://extensions
In the top right corner, toggle Developer mode ON.
Click “Load unpacked”
Click the Load unpacked button in the top left and select the extracted folder.

What is the default Master Password if prompted?
The default Master PIN is 1234. You can change this or disable password protection anytime by right-clicking the ByteShield extension icon, selecting Options, and opening the 🔐 Master Password & Blacklist Lock tab.
Does Browser Guard slow down my internet browsing?
No. Unlike legacy extensions that route your web traffic through external proxies or slow JavaScript regex scanners, ByteShield uses Chrome's native Declarative Net Request (DNR) API. Rules execute directly at browser network socket speed with 0ms added page latency.
Can I use Browser Guard without the ByteShield desktop app?
Yes! Browser Guard is completely standalone for web protection, phishing interception, and lookalike domain blocking. When the desktop app is also installed, Browser Guard seamlessly bridges with it to enable deep AMSI and sandbox scanning for downloaded files.
